Favorite Things Friday

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!

Thank goodness it's Friday. I can honestly say that this was the longest week ever, even if it was only a four-day work week. I can't celebrate too much, though, my department has one person work each Saturday from 8-noon, and guess whose Saturday it is tomorrow? Mine.

Anyway. Time for my favorites from this week!!

1. Combined cardio and weights. Guys. I am like, an exercise nerd. It's pathetic, really. If I had to choose between exercise and sleep, I'd choose exercise nine times out of ten, and I'd love every second of it. It's almost sick how much I enjoy the soreness after a hard workout, or feeling like I'm going to die while pushing myself to the next level. I could talk about it for hours, so I'll just shut up now and tell you that I'm really loving combining my cardio workout with weights.
PS This is week 5 of working out regularly!!!

2. How involved I get with fictional characters. This may be a weird favorite, but I love the way I read - I see everything as it's happening, I feel the emotions of the characters, and I imagine myself as they are. It's like an escape to an alternate reality.
3. Banana and Walnut granola. SO. FREAKING. DELICIOUS!!! And filling. And healthy. Did I mention that it's delicious?
4. Not feeling guilty for taking a couple days off from blogging this week. I didn't blog Tuesday OR yesterday, and you know what? I don't feel bad about it. Instead I spent that time working out, reading, and cuddling with Mike (wipe the disgusted look off your face - I almost never get mushy on this here blog).
5. FAMILY TIME!!!! Yep, I saved the best for last. We got to go down to Kansas and spend time with my parents and younger brother, and it was great. I love them all so much, and was glad to spend the weekend away. My parents are amazing, and I love them more than life. Mike loves them too, which is definitely awesome. None of those silly "I hate my in-laws" feelings in this house!
I don't have photo evidence because I didn't think about it.

What are YOUR favorites from this week??

Yaaaaaaay! I have definitely got that Friday feeling....even though there is a ton of work to do this weekend. In fact, there is still Friday to go.....i might want to get ready for school. It might be a make-up day today. It's our school photo and it would be good if my mugshot didn't repulse people!

My roommate and I read Water for Elephants together, it was HORRIBLE! We were constantly fighting for the book during our downtime. But at the same time, we were waiting for each other to catch up so we could talk about what happened and how we felt about it. Great book!

I'm with you on the first one; and appreciate the last one.

Lately I've been kicking it up a notch... or two, at the gym, it's left me absolutely exhausted (pass out in the middle of the day beat) but I'm also enjoying it in ways I wouldn't have expected... and ways that are expected. (I'm a tiny bit vain, I'm okay with that.)

"It's almost sick how much I enjoy the soreness after a hard workout, or feeling like I'm going to die while pushing myself to the next level." I know! It's better than drugs! :D
also, thumbs up for not blogging every day. I don't know from where the myth about daily blogging came from...

the garnola thing looks really good! Should look for it here as well ;)
and to take a bit time off from blogging has never been a very bad idea ;)
Wish you a nice weekend,
Sandra

I am with you on this week feeling so long. Awesome on the workouts! Obviously, I choose sleep. I wish I felt that way about exercise.

Super excited for you and your working out obsession! Once I get myself back into a routine and go every day, I love it too! I'm more a fan of weights than I am of cardio, but still, L<3ve.

Hope tomorrow doesn't suck :)

This really has been the longest week ever. So sorry you have to work on Saturday. Such a bummer. But I hope it goes by quickly for you and that the rest of your weekend makes up for it! :)

Also, love the exercise bit. My friends think I'm a total freak for how much I love basically trying to die during a workout. haha. I love the feeling of giving everything and then more.

Happy Friday!

Alyx, I know how it feels to be addicted to working out. I just need more cute workout clothes. You know, because it's practical... not because I want to look good at the gym... not at all

Hmmm... mine are:
1. Watching the political conventions and wondering if I'm watching politics or the grammy awards.
2. I get the bed to myself tonight!
3. Moe's for lunch.... I'm a little obsessed with Moe's.
4. Seeing a praying mantis!
5. Reading your blog, of course!

My favorite thing about this week is that: IT'S OVER!
And I get to go away to the beach this weekend. So glad it's the weekend!

I have to work tomorrow too, I understand your pain. But hooray for only having to work a partial day!

I'm so glad you're working out consistently again, I now how amazing that feels. Proud of you for getting it done, even when there are other things competing for your time.

LOVE Water for Elephants. I want to crawl inside that book and live there.

I'm always disappointed when they make a book into a movie and the way I picture the characters and the actors they use don't match up. Like Emma Watson as Skeeter in The Help.

I could care whether you blogged once a week, I would still read your blog RELIGIOUSLY because your posts are amazeballs. I feel the same way about books, it's a really weird feeling that I have a hard time explaining to non-readers. Also, bring on the mush, I'm down with it! Thanks for commenting on my blog despite your own blog absence, I appreciate it :)

Good for you for taking a blog break!!!

How did you like Water for Elephants? I loveddddd the movie but haven't read the book yet.

You would rather work out over sleep? I need you to rub off on me a little more.

Glad you were able to spend some quality time with your family! Yay for that!

I am the same way when I read... because of that, I tend to get very emotional when I read as well. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Awesome job, girl!!! I wish I could say I've been as good about working out as you have. In my defense, I did fracture my leg again, but that doesn't mean I couldn't be doing other stuff besides running. :o/ I've just been feeling lazy!

I hope you have a great weekend!!!

Jealous of your love for exercise, I wish I felt that way. Ever. And I get really into books too! It's like I can escape my life and get into whoever's life I am reading about. It's the best! Damn good stress reliever!

Kelly said...

Oh man, I totally know what you mean about the work-out feeling. There's really nothing better than the feeling when you sit down after a workout. Your whole body is happy and relaxed, as if it's thanking you or something. <-- I'm a weird exercise freak too...

This week I have only had time for short 30 minute work outs and it kinda makes me sad.

My favorite from the week: I took Friday off. I did nothing and it was wonderful.
Bon weekend mon amie!

I wish I had your exercise addiction problem -- I dread working out and I wish I loved it because I'd be much healthier! How did you learn to love exercise? Or have you just always loved it?

I miss my exercise addiction! You look awesome!!! Have a great weekend.

Loved this post!! I love Blogging, but I don't feel bad taking a break from it as well. I am exactly like you when I read, I can put myself in the characters lives...which makes the story come alive so much more. Love it. :)

Why don't I like working out more than sleep? Fix this for me! That'd be cool

Cuddling DEFINITELY takes priority over blogging. 100% of the time. :)

I read the same way. I get emotionally involved with the story... a lot of the reason why I can't put a good book down once I start.
